Physiotherapy

    This specialized physiotherapy clinic aims to support women by meeting their pregnancy, postpartum and pelvic health needs through advanced training and education in Orthopedics, Obstetrics, Pelvic Floor, Clinical Pilates and C-section Rehabilitation. Appointments are being offered in person or via telehealth.

    Cost: Initial Assessment - $145; Follow-up - $100

    At Coast Therapy, Pelvic Physiotherapy Assessment can include: A comprehensive history to identify issues specific to your postpartum journey; assessment of pelvic alignment; real-time US assessment of pelvic floor, abdominal and back muscle function; measurement of the DRA at rest and contracted; an internal pelvic examination to evaluate prolapse of bowel, bladder or rectum; use of Biofeedback to assist with specific muscle retraining program. Appointments are being offered in-person or via telehealth.

    Gravida Physiotherapy offers various services for new and expectant mothers, including prenatal physiotherapy, postnatal physiotherapy and pelvic floor physiotherapy to address concerns including, but not limited to, sacroiliac dysfunction, low back pain, diastasis recti, prolapse, and incontinence.

    Fit 4 Two® offers a variety of programs for pregnant women, new moms and new families. All Fit 4 Two® Instructors are Certified Pre and Postnatal Fitness Specialists and certified Fitness Instructors and/or Personal Trainers. We follow the 2019 Canadian Guideline for Physical Activity Throughout Pregnancy. Currently, classes are being offered online or outdoors.

Pre & Post Natal Massage

  • Location: Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam

    Cost: Varies depending on length of service

    During pregnancy (Pre-natal care) massage therapy can be used to treat a number of pregnancy-related symptoms or conditions including back and muscle pain, headaches, edema (swelling of feet, ankles and wrists), carpal tunnel syndrome, constipation, and of course fatigue and stress. Massage therapy is equally effective in treating many of the above conditions during the weeks and months after childbirth (Post-natal care) when the body is recovering and transitioning back to its regular self.

    Prenatal massage is a modified version of Swedish massage. Therapists make sure that the baby is safe and that the mother is comfortable during the treatment. The treatment is modified as deep tissue work should not be attempted on pregnant women. Post-natal massage focuses on working with the muscles as they readjust to pre-pregnancy positions.

    Prenatal Massage offers a natural, safe, drug-free alternative choice for pain relief. The massage can help with low back pain, chronic headaches, restless legs, foot soreness and sciatic pain. Prenatal massage can also help you decrease stress and promote relaxation which will create a sense of calmness and help you sleep more soundly.

Chiropractor

    Cost: Varies depending on length of service

    Uses conservative care during pregnancy (treatment that is not invasive or requires the use of medication). Examples of conservative care include spinal manipulation and mobilization, soft tissue therapy, cupping therapy, and myofascial release to help reduce pain and improve function.
